Contemporary Art

How does it work?

With galleries in London, Los Angeles and Gstaad, and regular exhibitions at prestigious art fairs around the world, Maddox has established its presence on an international stage.

Maddox has an impressive track record, reassuring investors they’re in good hands.

With most art galleries, it’s not possible to walk in from the street and buy a painting. You either need an invitation, have an existing contact or be an art collector.

With direct access to the gallery, I can make an introduction over a Zoom call with the art gallery to explore opportunities without any obligations. By naming your budget and time frame they can present some art pieces within your criteria.

If you have money to invest, this is one of the best opportunities to consider.

Don’t wait to invest; invest and wait…
We work alongside Maddox Art Gallery based in London, which has galleries in Geneva and Los Angeles. They’re presenting some of the biggest well-known artists today, such as Banksy, Andy Warhol, David Hockney and Yayoi Kusama. They also have access to lesser-known artists and, at times, more affordable art pieces.

They have an impressive track record, reassuring investors they’re in good hands.

Questions and Answers

Can you lose money on art?

Yes. It all depends on whether the right artist was chosen. If you choose an established artist, the potential for growth increases since you buy the name.

Is my investment secure?
Yes, you can choose to have it delivered directly to you or stored in a safe location with insurance attached to it.
How do I figure out which painting or artist I should choose?
The art piece that fulfils your criteria will be chosen from the beginning in collaboration with the art gallery. The business model is built upon you being satisfied with the painting, the procedure, and the outcome so that you buy more.
What is the difference between an emerging and an established artist?
An emerging artist is still at the beginning of their career, whereas an established artist has already created a name for themselves. Secondary artists have an active secondary market, and their artworks resell privately and through auction.
What if I don’t have any knowledge about art?
By naming your budget, timeframe and criteria, the art gallery will find the art piece to suit your objectives.
How do I sell the painting again?

It can be done in three ways:

  • Privately – happens very rarely unless you have the right contacts.
  • Art gallery – they advertise through their existing network.
  • Auction – it goes to auction and awaits the highest bidder.
Where do I make the most money?
At auction, since it goes by the highest bidder. You indicate your price, and the bidding dictates the outcome.
How does Maddox make money?
They charge a fee of 20% from the profit alone.

An example:

Painting bought for: GBP 50,000
Sold for: GBP 80,000
Their margin: GBP 6,000

Their fee includes facilitating the painting, storage with insurance and the sale through their network.

What does Maddox earn if the painting is sold at auction?
If that were to happen, Maddox would only earn their fee when the painting was first sold to you.
How much do you pay at auction?
If you choose to sell at auction, the seller usually receives the majority on the hammer price. The auction house receives the 25% buyer’s premium on top of the hammer price.
Is there a minimum holding period?
For certain artists, the minimum hold is two years, but generally, there is no holding period. The art gallery suggests holding it for 3 – 5 years, depending on the piece of art acquired for higher increased value.
What is the minimum investment level?
Starting at GBP 10,000 for entry-level grade artwork
